LONGO VS JOHANN
MIMI LORCA - LE CHEVAL FOU
(AZ RECORDS, FRANCE, 1980)
Dear Longo friends,
I’d like to introduce you a not-so-easy-to-find production i picked up after many research. This track comes from the french popular songs archive, composed during the Boogie influenced years. Mimi Lorca “Le Cheval Fou”, from her unique homonymous album, is like a jewel in the ocean, something i could define like an hybrid, a mix between the chanson francaise, the criminal movie soundtrack and the disco-funk floorfiller. The arrangements sounds quite unusual, with pauses and reprises perfectly combined together, using some particular sonorities we could find only after many years in the dance music history (the synthesizer during the vocal is just out of head!).
In the end the voice leave place to an amazing funk jammin’ session wich, “comme un cheval fou”, seems uncontrollable. The lyric sense (a woman like a crazy horse) makes all the stuff so sexy and trumpet parts twist you up and down the beat, again and again. All served with a fat disco bassline and some funky guitars rolling pan for all the time.
I felt in love with this track and hope you’ll enjoy it.
Love you,
Johann
